Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci is a Romanian gymnast (born on the 12th of November, 1961 in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej [now OnestiGheorghe Gheorghiu Dej [now Onesti] Romania). She was first person to reach a flawless 10 during an Olympic occasion. Bela Karalyi was introduced to Comaneci at the age of six. She would later become the Romanian gymnastics coach. The first time she competed at the national junior championships in 1969, finishing 13th. She was the winner in 1970. The first time she competed in an international meet, which was a preolympics junior competition that was open to countries of the communist bloc, she took home three gold medals. Then in 1973 and 1975, she won awarded the All-around Junior Champion. In her very first competition at a senior level Lyudmila Turkishcheva from Russia took home five gold medals, as well with one silver.
